Light & Silhouettes

The work was inspired by the observation of the silhouettes created by the sun piercing through the trees and their shadow projections on the windows. This curtain is designed to play with both natural and artificial light. I used one sheet of thick white fabric and I cut a second tree like layer which I sewn on top. By day the sunlight seeps through the curtain and the silhouette can only be seen inside the house. On the contrary, by night the house artificial light allows the silhouette only to be seen from outside. In this way the curtain isn’t felt like a motionless object indeed it has a strong interaction with both inside and outdoor light and this effect results even more interactive by the person who is passing next to it, overlapping his shadow to the tree one.
