Racing Hovercraft
A team design competition of a full scale racing hovercraft. Paper, foam, and adhesives were the only permitted materials for this build. This model was to be designed and built in under fourteen days.
After the initial research phase we discovered many features about racing hovercrafts that were essential to making them as efficient and aerodynamic as possible. We opted to keep a fairly traditional form except for replacing the one large rear propulsion fan with two small turbines.
Ideation sketches followed after our research, the chosen design was further refined with CAD software to create accurate dimensions for the hovercraft. Our design placed first in the hovercraft competition.
