This tree painting was designed for my close friends; they requested a simple sign-in illustration for their wedding. Their idea was for the guests to stamp their inked fingerprints onto the tree, leaving behind their prints as tree leaves. (I like the image of a bare tree coming into bloom with the love and presence of friends and family; what a beautiful metaphor.) I developed this concept further based on their initial thought, and mixed powderized tree bark and soil from the outdoor wedding site directly into the paint. I felt that by doing this, the Earth would always be present in their marriage. How could I pass this one up?
The other two illustrations are for another friends' wedding; they were married under an spreading oak tree so I incorporated that into the invitation design.
