Why do some people get addicted to an upper like cocaine, and others cant live without downers like valium and xanax? It has to do with what kind of neurotransmier imbalance we have in our brains, that also determine what type of mental disorder a person has; such as depression, bipolar disorder, or anxiety. The main neurotransmitters are dopamine, noradrenaline, and seratonin and are in charge of things like emotional response, fight or flight response, hunger, reward, sleep, sex, and temper.
