The Battery Green at Battery Park is conceived as an outdoor public greenroom, a place for gathering and meeting old friends and making new ones...a place to visit while site-seeing, a place to attend open-air events on weekends, a place to relax throughout the day or evening.
The design of a field of 50 movable seats (amble) forsees The Battery Green as a transitional outdoor lounge on its way to becoming a stage or greenroom within Battery Park. The greenroom serves as a social-gathering centerpiece of The Battery Green and is able to accomodate up to 1000 people at a time. There would be flashes of artwork, artists, and an occasional performance any day of the week. Located within The Battery Green, the field of movable seats promotes choice of residents and tourists to meet and relax on the lawn, among the trees, during the day or night.
