The Aquarium at Moody Gardens

The Aquarium at Moody Gardens, Galveston, Texas, is the largest aquarium facility in the Southwest. The Aquarium features four oceanic habitats - the North Pacific, with seals, sea lions, kelp and seabirds; the South Pacific reef and lagoon; the Antarctic penguin colony, and a 1-million-gallon tropical Caribbean reef and shark exhibit featuring two tunnel entries and a central acrylic viewing room. While a project designer with Larson, Leonard worked with the lead exhibit firm BIOS and Morris Architects to bring the habitat concepts to life. With the initial concept information, Leonard researched the habitats, specified the coral and foliage enhancements and coordinated the design with life support, engineering and budgetary constraints.
