The logo is a 'G' the first letter of GAIL which is constructed as if by bent pipelines, symbolic of a gas power plant. When I had visited the plant and saw a medley of pipelines running across the area and the image was stuck in my mind which eventually became the main structure of the logo. I highlighted the negative flat space of the G curving and bending like the pipelines. Finally, the dot in the middle of the logo design represents the 'flare' which needs to keep burning, also metaphorically denotative of the spirit and determination of the company.
The company has various by-products and I retained the 'G' from the logo and used it for the logos of every product. The applications supporting the brand design consists of visiting card, envelope, t-shirt, name badge and stamps.

Corporate Identity Manual for GAIL

Another one of college assignments, we were assigned to conceive and assemble a corporate identity manual for a corporate company of our choice. I picked GAIL India Limited for the company has had the logo since 20 years, and so to commemorate its growth since the time I thought a new brand identity could be required for the company. I visited the local branch of GAIL a little outside of my home city and collected as much information as I could, to understand the working of the company and gather elements for the brand design.
I found out about the 'Flare Stack', a high tower on which there was a flame that represented the functionality of the gas plant. The flame is supposed to be kept burning to indicate the proper working of the gas plant. This became the most important contribution in the construction of the logo.
