ELEGANCE.

I first designed this for JCA t-shirt contest, which will be explained more later. Since this design received so many compliments by the members and JCA never had a
legitimate logo for themselves, the officers wanted to use it as their official logo. I also designed a banner for them to use on their Facebook group page using this logo. Many people have liked the simplicity of the design and the elegance of the koi fish, which both represents well of the Japanese culture.

It gave me great pleasure to create fun and appealing flyers, which made people smile and share it with others around them. For some of my flyers, like the ones shown above, I did not use any clipart from outside source and recreated everything myself. These are the type of flyers that allowed me to experiment further with and become more proficient with Adobe Illustrator.

As a PR for a student organization that constantly sought new members, I always tried to create flyer designs with biggest impact. I believe that the combination of a simple color scheme and a simple composition can create a huge impact on people’s eyes.

JCA events sometimes involved the whole Blacksburg community. For events involving other vendors, such as fundraisers, I ensured that their company image was maintained, in this case clean and colorful.

I originally designed this for a T-shirt design, yet I found myself using this over and over again. This was used as a printed banner at our local Street Fair, and it is also currently being used on their Facebook group page banner, even after several years.

In my third year of college, I was a public relations officer in the Japanese Cultural Association (JCA) at Virginia Tech. I was responsible for creating attractive AND informative flyers for every event we hosted.
