The Watt
In my second year I teamed up with my lecturers to design and develope a transport alternative for commuting in Cape Town. After assesing existing products, and the needs of potential users, we designed the Watt push electric scooter. The Watt is a hybrid between a bicycle and skateboard, designed to provide the sense of security with handlebars but the fun and accessibility of a skate board. The Watt has a 250w in-hub rear wheel motor, a lithium battery pack under the deck, as well as an LCD screen for rider feedback. The scooter is capable of 20km range at 25km/h. This product has been exhibited at design indaba twice and won the design indaba most innovative design award in 2015.
