Dripping Blind

This project was made for
VELUX International Design Award.

The blinds was inspired by the natural phenomenon of raindrops on glass, the relationship between inside and outside.

The blind is composed of 2 sliding layers, that complete each other. First layers contains little thermoformed polyester modules. The tip of these modules is sewn onto the printed canvas. In a normal position, the “raindrops” are bent, thus letting the light pass trough. The sacond layer is transparent. When rolled down it covers the first layer, hence, flattening the modules and blocking out sunlight.

I tried to combine two functions in one product: a single blind that can make the light softer or block it out completly.
