SolidWorks model - CAD model of design. I designed the gears to my specifications before manufacturing them from balsawood. The arched base is made from the circular cut outs of the top foamboard sheet.
Finished model - We had to make a kinetic sculpture only using desktop modelling materials and techniques. Light Line is made from foam board and balsa wood and consists of a 1:2 gear train. The result is that the LED on the end of the top arm draws a straight line back and forth through space as the scuplture spins.
