Design Challenge: With a large percentage of their business coming from the Northern California area, MacNichol Enterprises felt strongly connected to the iconic, lasting, and awe-inspiring characteristics of the Giant Sequoia (Redwood). The need to tie this theme into their brand meant finding similarities between natural and man-made objects. Influences of furniture design can be found in the dimensionality of the "M" symbol, with corresponding angled crossbars in the logotype. The logo’s angular and linear aesthetic lent itself to translations of the Giant Sequoia that are used as supportive iconography.?
