Modgardens is a product and business design project. Modgardens are small-scale, modular vertical farms for urban dwellings. Three modules are available to offer shelving and a system to grow plants. The Hex Garden modules feature LED UV grow light strips and nutrient-filled Hydro Pearls. Customers can create their own arrangement using the online user interface. Estimates were made for the cost of producing each module based on actual material costs and conversations with potential manufacturers. A financial projection for the business was made based on the estimated production costs, number of customers, gross profit, and operating expenses (marketing, website development, promotion, R&D, salaries, and G&A).
