Portable Modular Induction Hob

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and food brings the family together. In the modern fast-paced world it is hard to find time to spend together with the friends or family.

This new product will allow everyone at the table to not only eat together but also cook together; creating a much more social event to dinner time.

The safe modular induction hobs do not get hot and enable precise control over the heat to each pan.

THE MORE TECHNICAL BIT

The induction hobs are powered by a normal 240v mains connection, allowing for home use.
To make this possible, a new 'power-share' concept was required, where the power ratio between the hobs can adjusted so the power goes where it is required.

The modular design makes using the product easy as it can be set up on tables of all shapes and sizes. With extra power connections more sections can be added so that the entire length of a table can be utilised.
The major part of the project was the interaction created through cooking and eating at the table. Testing was required to make sure this is actually a good idea... turns out even with terrible cooks it really is a fun and enjoyable social event.
Observations made during the testing of the idea gave strong points to develop the idea further, which otherwise may not have been found.
Other people in house were attracted to the noise and smell, no food went to waste. Even lead to cooking at the table becoming a social gathering for friends on later occasions; proving that the interactions created were worth progressing the idea.
