THESIS WIP: Outsole and midsole exploration - Spring '11 is my design phase. (Last semester was the research phase.) The product is a business casual shoe that addresses the functional and fashion sensible needs for the active transportation commuter. Essentially, it's a vulcanized shoe with characteristics favorable to needs such as durability, breathability, pedaling+walking efficiency, etc. Design and development in progress until Fall '11, when all is set to be completed.
THESIS WIP: Upper exploration - My thesis topic. Spring '11 is my design phase. (Last semester was the research phase.) The product is a business casual shoe that addresses the functional and fashion sensible needs for the active transportation commuter. It started out as a vulcanized shoe which developed into a cupsole with characteristics favorable to needs such as durability, breathability, pedaling+walking efficiency, etc. Design and development in progress until Fall '11, when all is set to be completed.
THESIS WIP: Bicycle/Active Transportation Commuter Footworks - The 6th upper style. I like this one because of the pronounced "durability" story with the super thin TPU foil welded/heat pressed on the vamp and medial quarter panel.
THESIS WIP - Just a snapshot of my wall at school as of 4.11.11. Simultaneously designing and developing a small line of footwear catering to the needs of a bicycle/active trans. commuter. Sketches, upper mockups, outsole mockups, tech packs, materials research and sampling, user feedback,... some of the activities performed since February '11.
