Sanvito Manuscript
Commission to recreate a medieval Italiam manuscript, based on the classical frontispieces for Petrarch's Triumphs by Bartolomeo Sanvito, around 1515.
These pages were on dyed vellum (purple, green, yellow and black), with the figures drawn in silver for flesh and highlights (now tarnished to black) and shell gold. With the silver, this is similar to what they would have looked like 'as new.'
Body colour, shell gold and silver gouache on paper tinted with ultramarine, approx 17cm x 12 cm.
