ODS Disaster Area Map
US map indicating where disasters are more likely and during which seasons/ months they occur. The client wanted the map to be able to show all seasons and disasters without the need of multiple maps. This was the greatest challenge for me, since there was so much information to design around, I wanted the map to still be easy to read without becoming too busy.
In the end I decided on shading for only one of the disasters and icons for most of the others while earthquakes received dashed lines. I felt that this evenly distributed the disasters across the US map while still maintaining an aesthetically pleasing experience for a viewer.
