Hitachi C-Train
In collaboration with Hitachi Rail Europe, the aim was to create a revolutionary train concept for London.
The concept features two diverging carriage layouts, one being for short distance, the other being for long distance journeys. The
carriages are connected via a c-shaped exterior layout. As the exterior shape changes with the interior layout, due to the
c-shape, passengers are able to identify which carriage to choose for their particular type of journey.
All the components of the interior are cantilevered as the design is inspired by the structure of a tree. The layout of the carriages is simple and uncluttered to encourage standing.
