Process models - This shoe is an everyday work shoe that will incorporate some rhythmic shapes that repeat throughout the shoe.
Process models - This shoe shows an angular and more functional look to it. This work shoe incorporates some rhythmic shapes that repeat throughout the shoe.
Process models - This direction incorportates a “floating sole†design that I conceived when generating ideas. The whole shoe consists of flat planes and no blocky masses. The most important goal for me right now is to achieve balance in proportions from one element to another. I think that I might make the ankle straps blockier to balance the forms.
final sketches and models - The final design combined the last two designs to create a hybrid look to the shoe. The sketch media was colored pencil, and marker on vellum.
final sketches and models - the final white model was hand carved in foam, sanded and painted.
final sketches and models - I developed a matching handbag and bracelet to create a complete set.
Aluminum and Urethane visual prototypes - The yellow part is elastomeric urethane cast with a texture. The aluminum pieces were water jet cut, bent, polished and welded.
Aluminum and Urethane visual prototypes - The handbag rubber was cast in urethane. The aluminum was cast from an FDM rapid prototype and subsequently polished and bonded to the urethane.
Aluminum and Urethane visual prototypes - The yellow rubber was cast in urethane. The heel was cast in aluminum from a cast wax model. The footbed was CNC'ed from a SolidWorks model. Sanding and polishing took weeks on all three models.
