PROMOTIONAL: ROY LICHTENSTEIN - Problem: Design a take-away for the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, promoting their upcoming Roy Lichtenstein exhibit. Objective: Lichtenstein had a style of taking low art and creating high art, using borrowed ideas and presenting them in a youthful manner. Similarly, this piece evokes a happy nostalgia in the form of a child's fortune-telling game, using a borrowed form, interpreting and enhancing it, and creating high art from low art.
PERSONAL IDENTITY - A series of pieces creating a cohesive brand for myself as a designer, including logo, resume, and business cards.
FLIPPIN' FROGS - Problem: Create a series of children's toys, with paper or cardboard as the primary media. Objective: To take into consideration play value, and how to best exploit the allowed materials. Resulting in a game concept resembling the classic tiddly winks with 2 sets of 6 frogs each, one with colorful Amazon frog markings, the other creative prints and patterns. Flippin' Frogs are dynamic, durable, easily assembled, interchangeable with other sets, and also inexpensive.

EVOLUTION OF SPECIAL EFFECTS - Problem: Design an informational timeline calendar that covers any period of time, on any subject. Objective: To create an information hierarchy, portraying the timeline though imagery, color saturation, symbols, and lastly, text.

DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE - Problem: To design a mark for any concept, subject matter, or person. This mark should illustrate the sense of the subject, and be applied to various applications. Objective: the character of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde is a complex one. the goal in both the logo and the applications was to convey the duality of man's personality, from his greatest intentions to his darkest thoughts.

Objective: To design a travel magazine, Pangaea, that focuses on the younger audience, replacing static with dynamic, and 5 star resorts with local flavor.

TYPOGRAPHIC PEACOCK - Problem: To create two pieces combining photography and typography. Each piece should focus on a separate component, using the other only as an accent. Solution: To utilize a typeface that could effectively mimic the feathers of the peacock, and create a seamless and graceful illustration.
SAFEWAY.COM STYLE GUIDE - Client: Safeway.com (Tribal DDB, San Francisco) Problem: To design and produce a cohesive style guide for the new Safeway.com website. Contributions and Objectives: Collaborated on the final design - responsible for content and production. Having redesigned the site, adding new features and enabling online shopping, this guide was an intense undertaking - detailing every feature from flash animation to pixel specs, cumulating in 6 volumes totaling over 300 pages of content.

I opted to scrap the pastel pinks and somber atmosphere and go with a vibrant theme that appealed to it's young audience, creating buzz with a what some considered controversial subject matter.
