Form, 2014. Form is a contained area. It can be geometric. Form can be natural, for example; leaves, humans or puddles. Form is three-dimensional (height, width, and depth).
Texture, 2014. Texture is the surface quality. It is how an objects feels or looks. It can be rough, smooth, bumpy, gooey, sharp, etc. Texture adds interest.
Space, 2014. Space is area used or unused in a composition. This involves positive and negative space. Positive space is area the object takes up. Negative space is the area around the object. Space gives the photo a three-dimensional feeling.
Value, 2014. Value is in black, white, and all the greys in between. This gives the photograph a sense of timelessness. It is important to train your eye to read color as black and white. Value can add drama and impact to composition.
Color, 2014. Another word for color is hue. You need light to see color. You use color schemes to enhance appeal or make impact.
