Recess
Remember when you were a child? Remember when the scariest part of your day was falling off the monkey bars at recess, or playing foursquare with the cool kids? Recess was the best part of most kids’ schooldays. Sure there were some struggles, but the playground was the place where I was shaped most as a child. Recess was where I leaned who my true friends were. The ones that would invite me to go down the slide or cheer me on as I climbed up the fireman’s pole. It is hard to know what glimpses of recess are true or my imag- ination. But I do remember dancing with my friend JoAnne and belting out my favorite Spice Girls songs on the swings. And how could I forget, sitting on the top of the jungle gym looking down through the big bubble panel, gazing upon my classroom crush Sheldon, hoping the bubble would hide me from the rest of the world.
