Forming Taste
The starting point for this assignment was a sound clip. The sound clip was an amalgamation of different environmental sounds, pertaining to a specific location. My sound clip sounded like a dock. From the sound clip, I formed a utensil family that focused on the activity of deboning a fish. Research for the project started off with analyzing the historical context of specific utensils and learning more about the activity we wished to address. Gestural drawing and rapid form generation aided in the brainstorming process towards the final utensil family.
