Mouse Trap Dragster

This is a high-speed mouse trap-powered car designed to run a 10-yard drag race. I created a gestural automotive form atop the frame because of the skeletal nature of the chassis. Chassis components are carbon fiber and laser-cut acrylic, with the body formed from thin polystyrene strips. Unlike traditional mouse trap cars, which are powered by the lever of the trap, this design uses multiple springs in a series to lengthen the amount of time that there is tension on the rear axle. This allows the gear ratio to be much lower, increasing acceleration.
