Alfa Brera Update - Showing early displacement mapped seats inside, brake details etc.
Another few hours of work... - ...Sees parralax mapped alloy wheels, tyres and headlights appear. Poly count: 4,561 As the render engine is Vray, vray displacement was used to implement the height maps. I managed to construct the whole alloy itself from a single quad polygon. The tyre was then mapped & added, making the poly count 19 for the complete wheel & tyre. I later added 12 more polys to create an insert as the back of the tyre was visible. Still, 31 quads for a complete alloy and tyre isn't bad.
Another few hours of work... - This view shows the polygon edges for the car and the layout of the very low poly wheels and tyres.
After another few of hours... - Step 2: I converted it to editable poly and tweaked the geometry to end up with this so far. There isn't much more modelling to do before I can start firing off renders again. I've used nothing but normal smooths and different smoothing groups for this car. Poly count here: 2,600. About 300 of that is the grille. A further 300 makes up the temporary interior panels.
Alfa Romeo Brera Progress After a Couple of Hours - A quick progress shot of my first spline modelled car. Surface modifier added to the spline cage car. After poly modelling almost everything else I've ever made I decided to see if this was any quicker and if I could bulk up the geometry any quicker. It has taken a little less time so far, however the simplicity may hamper future progress. More updates soon. So far I've spent about two or three hours on it at most. Poly count here: 400
