Finally an opportunity to put my A* in GCSE Textiles to good use! I was thrilled to be asked to join the team on another Edgar Wright project - and perhaps his most ambitious to date.
The film's protagonist, Eloise, is a fashion student and there are several scenes showing her in class. So, my task was to play the roles of 16 of her fellow students and produce coursework at various stages of development for them to be working on in the background.
Lead Graphic Designer, Sophie Powell came up with a very detailed structure for the work. Each student was given two random themes. They would first make collaged mood boards, then begin to extrapolate shapes, textures and colours from these collages, before beginning to produce first sketches and ideas for garments.
The challenge here was to produce a range of styles, thought-processes and skill-levels. And in quantity - I had to make probably 3 months of work for 16 people in 4 part-time weeks!
