Research into innovative means of shaping veneers and plywood led to the development of a new technique for bending thin sheets of veneer into varied forms. In this process veneers were steamed in the microwave using soaked paper towels and then clamped around aluminum forms. The dried, pre-shaped veneers were then coated with glue and assembled around the aluminum forms. Once complete the product was then finished using polyurethane.
