Moji 360 - Moji 360 is a portable personal massager that features omni-directional stainless steel spheres to allow users the freedom to massage with a constant motion similar to that of a professional massage therapist at their own convenience. I was the design lead on this program helping the project and client teams through the early opened ended definition phase, iterative exploration and then down to the branding and details that help this product come alive.
Moji has founded their company on keeping people active. Clean, neutral, athletic forms derived from the human form.
In order to get a deeper sense of what Myofascial Release Massage does for an athlete we consulted with Moji's advisory panel of physical therapists, trainers and coaches. I also took up the post workout routine myself. With this foundation we began to break apart the current methods and build on them in new and inventive ways to promote the technique and make it more accessible.
The best and most effective way to understand what would effectively massage muscles required many iterative mock-ups and experimentation.
Form, material, texture and color exploration to target a final design for the handheld massage tool. Small tweaks to curvature and sphere placement were critical to achieving the right massage feel.
The Moji 360 - Intuitive, effective and desirable.
