While working at Disney Consumer Products, I was given a chance for my own dream to come true! I’ve always wanted to design the costumes for animated films - it is the perfect combination of all the things I love to do! But, unfortunately, I was always told it wasn’t a real job - the animators, character designers and art production teams did that work. And I didn’t fit into any of those categories. Then, one day, the Television Animation group asked the Toy Team for help with Cinderella II - but, there was a catch - they needed it pretty much yesterday! I put all other work on hold and sketched my heart out! I wanted her costumes to feel like they came from the same hands that made her original film - a little nod to history, a bit of late forties/ early fifties, with some Grace Kelly glamour. I loved very second of it - even though none of the designs were used!
They did, however, use the color palettes, so I guess that’s kinda cool!
