[ COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH INKEE WANG ]
People are often invested in depictions of violence that are stylistically excessive, as violence is intrinsic as part of people’s experiences and basic animal instincts. To quote Lionel Trilling: ' It is possible that the contemplation of cruelty will not make us humane, but cruel; that the reiteration of the badness of our spiritual condition will make us consent to it. ’ Especially in this contemporary environment where this violent nature is being repressed, media and computer games become the venting outlets and platform to cultivate this paradox.
