Color Theory - This illustration represents happiness to me. I started by designing a geometric sun and then created rays, but chose a brighter color that worked with the yellow. Some have said this image looks like eggs and bacon, which is also happiness in my opinion!
Color Theory - This is an example of Split Complimentary Colors. I started with the red house, and then added the green bushes and the dark brownish/gray color to accent. Lastly, I added the water using transparency to show a flood.
Color Theory - This is an example of tetradic color scheme. I wanted to create a flower and use symmetry and color balance.
Typography - We were asked to create 3 illustrations using just one letter and one font to create a design. This design uses the letter "b" just rotated around in different ways.
Typography - We were asked to create 3 illustrations using just one letter and one font to create a design. This design uses the letter "L" lowercase. The font I chose had a curvy l, so I thought it would be perfect for a design like this.

Advertisement - We were asked to re-create an advertisement. I picked one about a house near Marquette's campus geared toward college students. The original ad was 2-colored, with a bright yellow background and blue font. I used all the same wording, except "home away from home." I also created a logo for them.
Business Branding - We were given a made up company, Inertia Publishing Company, and asked to make a logo, business card and letterhead for the company. I wanted to use bold colors that were also serious colors, so I chose red and black. I also wanted to keep the typography all the same from the logo to the other words in the business card and letter head. This is the logo.

Magazine Design - We were asked to create a magazine design for a design publishing company. I focused on graffiti while creating the background in Illustrator.
Magazine Design - For the magazine spread, I used an image from iStock showing graffiti, but with a large sky. I think this design would stop a reader while turning the page to at least consider reading the article.
Concert Flyer - We were asked to create a concert flyer for any band, so I picked Mumford and Sons. I became obsessed with this band a few months ago and love their passion of music combined with their "folk" sound. I wanted to do a simple design to go with the folk theme of their music, but nothing to cliche. I made the tree in Illustrator with the pen tool.
