'Made in Runcorn' Sandstone Soap Production

Second Year | Project 3 | Unit 5b | Hybrid Territories | Transplant & Rehabilitation | Studio Project |

This project explores a potential outcome of the re-opening of Runcorn's Canal.
The reopening of the canal is an opportunity to reintroduce an industry back to the town - utilising the canals for both industrial transportation to the Manchester Shipping Canal but also for the promotion of tourism via leisure crafts travelling around the Cheshire Ring.

The Sandstone Soap Store combines two significant industries of the past in an attempt to create a unique product stamped with the trademark 'Made in Runcorn', effectively putting Runcorn back on the map.
The success of the Sandstone Soap Store will encourage and provide an opportunity for industrial, recreational and retail companies to set up along the canal, ultimately promoting Runcorn's status, giving pride back to the residents and strengthening the urban fabric of the town.
