Curious Encounters with Modern Mythical Monsters - Curious Encounters with Modern Mythical Monsters is a children’s book that I have been writing and illustrating for the last few years. It shows situations that I think these creatures would get into if fairy tales took place in the 20th century.
My goal was to have water color texture with neat dark lines. That is why I drew the outlines with micron and some coloring with primacolor on vellum and scanned it over the blocks of color that I painted on water color paper with gouache. Two spreads with illustration and text were shown in the Cornish College of the Arts 123 Design Exhibition in 2010. Earlier versions of the illustrations with the poems writen on them were in the 2009 invitational art show at Seattle Central Community College. After being shown in the main gallery, they were selected to hang in the presidental gallery for two semesters, which is the waiting room for their office.
