Disaster relief kit
This project was developed from the analysis of the history of the city’s floods: how it has dealt with these situations in the past and what is the current state of preparedness. The kit is designed so that all of its components are necessary for surviving after a flood. As it will be used in different places and situations, it has to be versatile and functional. It comes with a box, which can be used as a shelf, and a small dolly to make it easily carried. The dolly can also help carry furniture, boxes and other small objects. Brazil’s shelters are generally set up in empty warehouses, which can be shared by dozens of families. As the need for privacy is critical to the psychological well being of flood victims, this emergency kit was developed to easily divide the warehouse space into areas of family privacy. Therefore, the dolly can be easily disassembled to become two vertical supports for holding a sheet of fabric, which creates a soft partition between families.
