In 1992 and 1993, I designed the Theodore Roosevelt Dam exhibit, which is the central exhibit at the Arizona Historical Society Museum in Tempe, at Papago Buttes. My project was an Indoor and outdoor terrace exhibit which interpreted the dam's construction technology and some of the people who made it happen. The challenges included choosing constructions materials which would hold up in the harsh environment, supervising the translation of all panels into both English and Spanish, and selecting colors which harmonized with the beauty of the natural environment. I selected historic photographed from a large collection housed at the museum library, and worked closely with historians in the creation of the descriptive panels.
