Inter-Flex Lounger - The chair is one of the most challenging artifacts any craftsman could ever attempt. Incorporating a multidute of influences with modern styles and needs for durability and comfort has demanded every drop of patience in me. The purpose for this chair was to provide a larger beefier chair that flexed through its frame and not bulky diaper-looking cushions.
24V Cordless Commercial Power Drill/Driver - After working a lakeside construction internship in upstate New York, I felt there were a few tools that needed some changes. I chose to tackle the cordless drill. This project was primarily focused on style and aesthetics because the Dewalt, Makita, & Porter Cable drills on site needed a face-lift. Secondly, the unconventional look of the forward thrusting body and battery placement is so drastic due to the fact most commercial job site operations are of high repetition and require two hands: thus, fatigue of the arm, wrist, and hand is not a main issue. Again, this is a commercial tool targeted for the two hand repetitive work force. HOWEVER, I have since come back to the project to develop a more balanced, light duty one-handed model soon to come... thank you.
Professional Home Cutlery - This was a four week graphic concept development project to develop a five piece set of home cutlery that focused on form and progressive ergonomics. These are a few of the many sketches that investigated materials, fasteners and manufacturing options, as well as style and emotion.
Down hill racing longboard - This is the latest project that has birthed from my need for adventure. My goal was to design a long downhill slolom board with strong asthetic ties to surfing. There are very few boards today with agressive A-symmetry and long sweeping curves, nor are there anyboards that effectively celebrate their materials without poorly placed and scaled grain combinations or shabby misplaced stickering and ill thought brand identity. I wanted for myself something pure and aggresive.
USB Memory Stick - This was a two week project intended to investigate the memory stick as a fashionable accessory in addition to its functional electronic capabilities. Potential materials, form relationships, and the "reveal-factor" were focuses of this sketch process.
