Typography Grid Exercise

This project was created for a typography class at Illinois State University in November of 2009. In the assignment, the class was given four images and content text to be placed using a symmetrical grid guideline. The image and text could be of varying size, but had to conform to staying within the grid guidelines (for example, one image could take up one or more squares within the grid, but not half of a square). With each image, I wanted to display unique characteristics without revealing the entire art piece, except in the third image where I felt having the entire form would not only create a nice grid break, but help that one image stand out. The placement of the images help to create an overall asymmetric shape in the composition while giving the viewer's eyes a visual flow to follow through the written content. This piece was created in Adobe InDesign CS3.
