The Equus poster was created during my internship at Design Streak Studio at Illinois State University in 2009. The ISU School of Theatre was presenting a stage production of Equus, and the director came in to discuss his interpretation of the play.
I wanted to create a design that was simple, captured the essence of the story, and highlighted the drama in one of the more notable scenes. I thought the black and white contrast would help the poster stand out and let the red become the focal point to draw viewers to look closer. I used a sans-serif font to elevate the quote from the rest of the text, and a gritty, thriller novel appearance to capture the darker tones of the play. This poster was created using Adobe Illustrator CS3.
