The Murray House
The Murray House was once one of many highly attractive Victorian homes that bordered a park on Danforth Street in Syracuse New York. It has been used as a multi-family dwelling. In its current state the Murray House is boarded up, the home to squatters and in a state of disrepair.
For a Historic Buildings Studio class, the assignment was to restore the building to a habitable state, as a multi-family dwelling. There were no existing plans to work from, so the class worked in teams to take field measurements and piece together the floor plans for the two-story home. Each student then divided the space up into either two or three dwelling units. Space plans and electrical plans were done for the entire space. One unit was selected for a furniture plan and material selection.
