Hanging Gardens
Hanging Gardens is an installation using a Japanese plant binding technique known as kokedama. It was part of a group show called "Plant Sale" at the Center for Strategic Art and Agriculture located within the Silent Barn in Brooklyn, NY July 4th - August 4th, 2013.
Using a Japanese plant binding technique known as kokedama, Hanging Gardens is a living sculpture intended to draw references to a certain type of "bondage" that exists when plants play the role of a social and cultural commodity. The exhibit is meant to be an immersive experience allowing participants to walk through the suspended plants that are set under and hand-woven net of manila rope.
