Hydraulic Ball Bearing Press
Hydraulic Ball Bearing Press - Using SolidWorks for solid modeling, I designed a Hydraulic press that would press 3/16" diameter ball bearings into a manifold. These ball bearings would plug machined cross holes to close the manifold that is used in a small air compressor. Before this press, each of the eleven ball bearings would be pressed into the manifold on-by-one for 200 manifolds per week. Manpower for assembly was our bottleneck for this part assembly, holding us to the 200 piece quantity. With the hydraulic press, we are able to assemble more than 400 manifolds a week, with the bottleneck now being machine time.
