Competition: Not-So-Secret Garden

USGBC competition to repurpose a building and neighborhood in New Orlean's Ninth Ward. This proposal creates a series of gardens--from public space for the neighborhood to share, to a roof garden for the residents, to individual deck gardens and green screen hurricane shutters--turning inside out, New Orleans' vernacular of hidden, private courtyard gardens. The existing school building is programmed to hold vital neighborhood industries and services, as well as incubate small local businesses. Multiple sustainable systems make this new neighborhood hub an efficient oasis.
