Void Redesigned

The aim in the redesign of the Van Leer façade is to create a more interesting light situation. The new façade incorporates an organic hive-like steel structure of tessellating hexagons that grow and provide the viewers with a larger window as they ascend to the top of the stairway. Each side of the hexagon tapers in towards its center where it is cut off by the plane of the window, and the same structure is mirrored on the other side of the glass. The almost conical shape of the window frame invites people to come towards the window. Because of the shape the eye will have an open field of vision from multiple angles to the outside.
