Joan Miró Event Poster Series

This poster series was from a course
called Thinking Visually. The objective
was to work with image and type but
allow them to exist separately. Its a
series of four posters for a schedule of
events focusing on how Joan Miró’s
sculptures influenced modern sculpture
today. Miró was primarily known
for his paintings, and his overall body
of work focused on the ambiguity
of form. I portrayed this idea of
ambiguity through the placement
of the sculpture within the composition.
It lets the viewer see that it is a
sculpture without revealing too much
information, allowing the viewer to be
curious. I pulled the colors from Miró’s
paintings, which used a lot of reds,
blues, greens, and yellows. These can
be viewed side by side or separately
since all of the information is on
each piece.
