Magnetic Levitation Device (MAGLEV)

University Design Project:

The goal of this project was to learn and practice critical design skills. I built from scratch a magnetic levitation device that used an electromagnet to levitate a small tube with two magnets on either end.

Drawing: Learned and used Canadian Standards Associations drawing standards to draw by hand all components of the MAGLEV device

Computer Aided Design: Learned and used NX5 Unigraphics software to create a 3D model.

Machining: Learned machine shop safety, used a variety of machines to complete milling, drilling, boring and turning operations when fabricating metal pieces to strict tolerances.

Circuit design: Understood and soldered critical components of the MAGLEV circuit.
