Smart Light - A travel reading light that works as a bookmark and an alarm clock. Designed with Solid Works 3D. www.keithwatamura.com
Journal of Heredity cover, 2003 Vol. 94 - Examples of my graphic design work for the Center for Canine Genetics and Reproduction at The James A. Baker Institute for Animal Health, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University. I worked with geneticists and veterinarians to create visual explanations and graphic models of to capture and illustrate their findings and research. The creation of these scientific figures required the extraction of detailed information from the client as well as the articulation of the parameters and possibilities of the software to the client. www.keithwatamura.com
Memento Box - Keeping your memoirs assessable and in view. A beautiful object, where memorabilia are displayed while preserving them and making them more accessible. The box is more than a display shelf because it gives a home where memories can be visited. It preserves and protects priceless objects. Objects are not just accessible like the contents of a dresser, they are seeable, touchable, moveable, arrangeable, controllable, and changeable. www.keithwatamura.com
PANGEA Wall Sconce - A wall sconce for a restaurant with an earthy atmosphere that uses mostly organic ingredients for a global infusion menu. Pangea was Earth's ancient Permian super continent and also symbolizes the concept of global unity. The Ginkgo tree is the oldest tree species to survive on earth, over 200 million years old, so the form of the leaf is a reminder of our ancient roots. The green of the semitransparent fiber cloth casts a green hue that is meant to suggest the green we see as the sun passes through leaves of a tree on a sunny day. Constructed of Asian fiber paper and wire-frame illuminated by eco-friendly 13 watt florescent Bulb. www.keithwatamura.com
Ergonomic Hand Trowel - A universally designed aluminum sand caste garden trowel for multiple hand positions and multiple hands. The form was inspired by the human hand cupped for digging. The trowel then becomes an extension of our hand that we use to dig. The ā€œVā€ shaped handle will provide more support for digging and shoveling and the handle is slightly wider to make it easier to hold without having to grip it tightly for those with arthritis or disabilities that affect the fingers. The trowel can be held several different ways depending on how it is being used and how the user is able to hold it. Aluminum does not rust so the Teravell can be left out in the garden. The form of the trowel is aesthetic enough to double as a garden accent. www.keithwatamura.com
