For my senior systems engineering project my fantastic group decided on producing a prototype of an electric car jack. We started with paper sketches and advanced to three dimensional models. We ran everything from tolerancing considerations to simulations of the force a full scale system would produce. Then we build our prototype and actually tested the lil' guy. The system was able to fully extend and retract just as we had hoped it would. We included a microstep counter to be able to have an adjustable input and a height readout. Best group project ever.
