Native American Church/Spirit House
Local tribe asked for a church design that would allow for tribal members to worship, gather, and celebrate. It was important that the building be in the form of a longhouse, which was the traditional building form that NW tribes utilized for shelter years ago. This longhouse shape, being quite narrow, presented several design challenges for a building that is to be used by up to 500 people at a time. The design presented strives to honor the traditional longhouse, while incorporating modern building technology and materials.
