For this project is inspired by Romare Bearden, an African-American artist involved in the Harlem Renaissance who used pieces of images to create a collage. The goal of this project is to create an artwork that depicts the student’s neighborhood. I used three nondestructive techniques in photoshop such as the adjustment layer and layer mask and layer styles. Using the layer mask I am able to hide a part of the image and put on top of the window screen.I used adjustment layer to change the color of the brick image to show depth and contrast. Layer styles was used to add shadow to certain parts of the image. For example I gave the trees and the stairs drop shadow to make it look like a collage and stand out among the other brick textures.
My favorite part of this assignment was creating the house and being able to use images to build the stairs, the wall of the house and windows. I believe I met all requirements for the project but with more time, I could have made it better.
