Hoffman Library with rolling aluminum ladder 2006 This piece was designed specifically for the intended space. Our work included the shelving which needed to support heavy books and sculpture, the drawers, which provided both clothing and file storage, the platform bed, and the ladder which rolls and also needed to be light enough to move to each side of the library.

Our work included the shelving which needed to support heavy books and sculpture, the drawers, which provided both clothing and file storage, the platform bed, and the ladder which rolls and also needed to be light enough to move to each side of the library. The center space was later filled with a painting.
Round Jax table with laminated white oak top and recessed aluminum lazy suzan 2008 This piece developed as a way to avoid end grain on a solid wood round top. Starting with a core build around the lazy susan we glued up hundreds of strips over 3 months to create this top. Each strip was milled to be as thick as possible for the bend. this ranged from 1/16" at the center to 3/16" at the outer edges.
Round Jax table with laminated white oak top and recessed aluminum lazy suzan 2008 The base of this table is comprised of a welded steel structure with mitered wood sleeves with matched grain. Each sleeve is fitted and trimmed until the center is clean and all legs are even in length.
Minneapolis Institute of the Arts Kiosk 2007 We build out several study rooms and kiosks for the opening of the Target wing of the MIA. Working closely with the architect we maintained the design intent that was already prevalent in the space.
This photo represents the many Jax tables that we made over my time at Duff Thury Studio Furniture. This design was a core part of our repertoire and was reproduced in many sizes and shapes. We made both steel base and wood base versions of this table.

Duff Thury Studio Furniture projects

These pieces were created during my time at Duff Thury Studio Furniture. In that position I took on both design and manufacturing duties. Together Duff and I would flush out shop drawings and scale drawings, build mock ups and prototypes, and finally build the pieces. Each piece developed was unique and in some cases designs were repeated and offered in other sizes like the dining tables while others were custom fit for the space.

Custom work led us to collaborate with many specialists including JoAnn Webber of Arte Del Cielo, architects including Kerrik Wessel, and businesses like Dwelling Designs.
